A stunning collection of powerful works by one of our country’s most important and prolific artists. With a series of solo shows starting in 1957 and continuing throughout the 1960s and into the 1970s, Gord Smith reigned supreme in the art world. His monumental 110-foot Canada Screen for the Canadian Pavilion at Expo 67 in Montreal tempts one to believe it to be his greatest single achievement. But so much preceded that particular triumph, and so much was to follow in a career that would cover eight decades. Abandoned by the critics throughout the 1980s, a lower-profile Smith persevered and continued to explore new territory. It was not until the new millennium that he fully re-emerged and was rediscovered by an appreciative new generation. Illustrated with close to 250 images, most of which are full colour.

Hardcover. 12.25" x 9.25". 171 pages.
